Thread: Tranny Problem

    Tranny Problem

Posting this up for a friend since he has been having trouble logging in. Anyways, he just got a built tranny and a refurbished fuddle 3200 stall to go along with it. The problem he is having is that the tranny starts to over heat when he tries to brake stall it. When he is not brake stalling the tranny acts fine, but when he does break stall it the tranny over heats and then it won't shift gears and it stays stuck in first. Any idea on what could be causing this? thanks

BTW, he checked the tranny fluid level and it was normal

Remember, if the stall is smaller in diameter, then less fluid in the tranny. I am assuming its a 60E. A deeper pan and a larger trans cooler is a must for that size stall. He needs more fluid in the trans to keep it cooler. If his temps are that high he will fry the trans. if he doesn't watch the temp.

This may not be the case, just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I am sure James is correct on this one... When installing a 3200 stall TC, you will need a larger cooler (at least 10,000 GVW) and a deep pan with cooler lines that run through it. You want the trans temp to be around 170-175.

hey man thanks for posting this up for me, I already go my password and username squared away.

COpied and pasted this from a local forum.

Yesterday i got my truck out but now im having some problems. My trans is heating up gacho after i brake stall the truck. After i brake stall it will not let me shift out of first. Right now i have the original trans cooler the one i had gotten did not fit, the fluid is topped. Yesterday when we were tuning it the temps would go all the way to 225. I have put about 100 high way miles with no problems. It did throw me a code when we were tuning it and it was the speedometer control sensor or something like that we could not even manually shift the truck, as soon as Dan turn off the code the truck shifted. RIght now im gonna brake stall it again and try out. BTW- brake stall was 3500-3600.

Trans is a JR built tranny, and im running a Fuddle stall.

Well i hope nothing messed on the tranny, its 1 day old.lol. BTW- i just changed the speed sensor and stalled it a couple of times and its working awesome, dam i need a trans temp gauge asap. Some coworkers were telling me that maybe it was not getting that hot, maybe it was just that the sensor was not working and it was throwing it off, and the truck would go into some limp mode.

may i ask why are you brake stalling?
that's your problem there + you need a bigger cooler if that's a 9.5" converter.

i was brake stalling it to see how much i could hold it to, I had just gotten the stall and built tranny, and since i change the sensor it seems to be working fine. Im getting a bigger cooler tonight.

Dunno if it was the sensor or not, but yesterday i got the biggest trans cooler they had in stock installed, and headed straight to the track. 13.5 untuned, on a 90 degree weather.

    BTw- i got a 1.79 60 ft, i love my FUDDLE
