i currently own a 1998 chevrolet c-1500 4.3 liter V6 vortec 2wd, short bed reg cab 5 speed, i was going to swap a 5.7 liter vortec into it but everyone here keeps telling me to go with a GEN III motor so i need some help. I would like to swap a 5.3 vortec prefereably 03 or up what tranny would i need and just how hard and how much $$$$ is involved? HAS ANYONE DONE IT BEFORE??????? HELPPPPPPPPPP

Yes, many have done it. So it must not be tooooo hard. tranny: 4L65E or 4L80E

5.3 all the way bro...the transmission you'll be needing is the 4L60E...there's no need for a 4L65E or a 4L80E...if you are planning on modding it up pretty nice, then its really recommendable to beef up that 4L60E
