alright i have been reading alot of old posts on stall converters. and i want to make sure i understand what im reading. with a stall you can keep your foot on the brake and bring the rpm's up to whatever the stall speed is before taking off right?. but what about when you just want to drive normal, will it take off regular or will it take off hard everytime. im really just wondering how much it will affect everyday drivability.

Mine is smooth as a feather when take off. It does bring the rpm up a little when taking off, but not much.

Yeah - depends on how "loose" or "tight" the converter is. Manufacturers differ. If it's a loose converter and you take off nice and easy, it may feel like it's slipping. If it's tight, you may barely notice it. But when you floor it, it should jump your RPM's up to the specified stall speed, preferably putting you in your powerband. Which is why your converter should be matched to your cams power band....

If you have a 2600 stall speed and keep your foot on the brake while giving it gas, it will start spinning your tires right around 2600 rpm.

If you are stopped and floor it while at the same time letting off the brake, it should also flash to your specified stall speed.

I love the way my fuddle feels. It is a 3000 but spools to around 3400-3600. I am havihg lockup issues but I talked to john and he is staying behind his warranty 100%.

When Fuddle's are working properly they're great. I had one and loved it. But I demolished the clutch in it. A lot (LOT) of other guys have had issues as well. John (Fuddle) is a great guy and is very helpful and will honor his warranty. That's all I'll say about Fuddle.

Yanks are pretty tight typically (from what I've read about others experience and based on my own...).

A triple disc Vigilante P.I. is the hands down favorite with truck guys but they're pricey.

Edge is one that I don't see much experience on with the truck guys, but they're a smaller diameter converter (read: easier torque conversion) and he offers a warranty also. I'd like to try one of his but haven't seen enough other guys using them.

TCI has been reported to have issues lately but they've been around forever.

Hughes are supposed to be pretty good but again, not a ton of guys running them.

Yankee hit the nail exactly on the head with his descriptions. My Yank is pretty tight and driveability is second-to-none. I can only speak from experience with the Yank... With your setup, either a 2600 or 2800 would be good for you. Anything over that would be way to high--considering when the Procharger spools up...

Exactly. John is a great guy, I loved my Fuddle, and he stands behind his warranty. I just couldn't afford the risk of getting another one and having the same thing happen (I only had the Fuddle for a few months). I don't have non-allocated funds sitting around that I can use on converter swaps.

Your best bet is to go to performancetrucks.net (and here of course) and search for 'Fuddle' and 'Yank' and 'Vigilante' (P.I. or Precision Industries) and read the reviews and decide which one you feel most comfortable with after researching it.
