i bought a ls1 out of a 2000 SS. the motor has 115,000 miles on it and does have a cam. the guy i bought it from thinks it is either the crane 216/224 or 224/224, both with .551 lift, he bught the car with the cam in it.

question is, when he had the ls1 pulled out, the engine shop that pulled it told him that the springs he has aree way to weak for that cam, and they were acting really surprised that it hadnt broken a spring yet. they told him they were stock z06 springs.

should i be worried about breaking a spring? should i buy some 918's and replace them?

the guy i bought it from doesnt know much about the motor, since he got it from a guy that wasnt the original owner either. so my buddy, the one i got it from, doesnt know if it was ever rebuilt. with the valve covers off, it seems very clean.

    the springs are yellow too.

    thanks

hard to say seeing how we none have any proof of what springs they are. at the very least, get some 918s for added insurance. I wouldnt chance it if i didnt know what was truely in it. I saw a set of 918s on pt.net for $70
    13.4 @ 98mph. Cammed/Stalled/LTs/Tune and those lame 3.42s!

I would stay from 918s right now, there have been some problems with them lately. Get some Patriot Gold springs and throw them on, you'll never regred it.
