Thread: tail gate problems

    Like it says I am having problems with the tail gates on both trucks. they dont stay up after you open it and it takes like 6 times for it to lock. thanks for any help

    sounds like you need to lube it. Spray it with WD40 or liquid wrench and work the latches until they work correctly then put some moly or lithium grease on the mechanisms.

    Need to replace the handle. They use nylon washers between the hinged parts now so they do freeze up.

    i actually had the same proble and i took it all apart and lubed t s out of it and made all parts work before i put them back in,work them back and forth ,all moving parts check em as you tighten up.latches handle arms etc,good luck.

    I am with Red--use some lithium grease. The spray on lubricants will dry up very quickly in your climate. Grease those bastards up really well.
