Thread: POSI AND GEARS?

    I AM CHANGING MY GEARS FROM A 3.73 TO A 4.10 SOON. I HAVE A 4L80E ALREADY AND THE GEARING IS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT THAN THE 60E. 2.48 1ST, 1.48 2ND, 1.00 3RD AND .75 4TH. THE COMBO. GEAR RATIOS WOULD PUT ME CLOSE TO A 60 E WITH A 3.73 GEAR ALTHOUGH 4TH GEAR IS A LITTLE HIGHER ON THE 80E.
    ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS ON THIS BEFORE I ORDER ANY PARTS? I RUN A 29.5" TIRE RIGHT NOW. THE SLICKS WILL BE A 28", IF THAT HELPS ANY. I WOULD GO FOR A 4.56, BUT I THINK THE GAS BILL WILL KILL ME SINCE ITS A DAILY DRIVER.

    I know you have a different trans than my av does, but I don&#39;t like the 4.10&#39;s at all, I&#39;m heading back to the 3.42&#39;s, just giving you an opinion from someone who has a turbo and went from one gear ratio to a steeper one.
    It may work on yours, I&#39;d like to see how it turns out.

    I REMEMBER THAT AT THE TRACK LAST TIME. I MAY JUST KEEP THE 3.73 AND AD A POSI. THE 28 INCH TIRES WILL GIVE A LITTLE MORE GEAR. I AM UNDECIDED?

    I DID A COMPARISON ON THE 4L60E AND 4L80 E

    4L60E WITH 3.73 GEARS
    3.06, 1.63, 1.00, .70
    11.41, 6.08, 3.73, 2.611

    4L80E WITH 4.10 GEARS
    2.48, 1.48, 1.00, .75
    10.16, 6.06, 4.10, 3.075

    RATIOS ARE PRETTY CLOSE.

    4L60E WITH 3.42 GEARS,
    3.06, 1.63, 1.00, .70
    10.47, 5.58, 3.42, 2.394

    4L60E WITH 4.10 GEARS,
    3.06, 1.63, 1.00, .70
    12.546, 6.683, 4.10, 2.87

    IS THIS CORRECT?

    I THINK I WILL DO A 4.10 WITH THE 4L80E TO SEE HOW IT WORKS. I SHOULD HAVE A GOOD LOAD ON THE TURBO STILL.
