Would the 4:10 not be better for drag racing?

Im asking because I have two trucks with the exact same mods. TR220 112, 918's, Efans, Hooker LT's,ORY, Cutout, Magnafow cat ack (no cats) LSD, Drag Slicks, Ladder Bars, 3000TCI, CAI and bolth tuned by me. Bolth have almost identical HP and TQ. One is a 99ECSB and the other is a 04CC. The only differnce is the 99 has 3:73's and the 04 has 4:11's

The 99 best time is 13.2 at 98.x
The 04 best is 13.8 at 93.x

What gives? The only thing that stands out to me is the 99 runs the 1/4 in 1st and 2nd (3rd at or after the traps) While the 04 shifts into 3rd a few hundred feet atfer the 1/8th and falls on its face, But beats most 12 sec cars to the 1/8th

I really have no clue when it comes to gears I know the basics on how to install them etc... But for a strickly racing view does this sound right. Is a 3:90 a better choice?

TY

Honestly I have never weighed them. I will do that and report back. Dont get me wrong the CC is getting it! 13.8 ties the old record I think its 13.5 now Somthing just seems a miss when it shifts into 3rd, its like hitting a brick wall and I only pick up a few MPH note the low trap speeds. There bolth 5.3's I dont think I stated that.

I think its your truck shift into third gear and losing the power you had going for you in the top of 2nd.

that may be the n/a record, but my 04 cc went 12.93 1/4 mi. Sit tight, the new n/a motor is pending tuning. Still expecting 12's.

BTW, the 04 cc weighs 5000 lbs without driver. verified at san antonio raceway.

how much gas was in the cc. if you run it lower than a 1/4 tank with a good launch, the motor will starve for fuel in 3rd gear.

i run 26" tall et streets w/ 4.10's and i'm already in 3rd gear well before the 1/8th

Hey,

Yea I have had a few people tell me I should be in 3rd around the 1/8.. But its not even close. The gears were installed before I got my hands on the truck. I have the reciepts for 4.10's the original owner purchased. However I just learned the shop didnt install them properly and new rear and gears were installed! So who knows WFT is in there mabey a 3.90? Im just getting more pissed the deeper I lookin to this.

Im need to open her up and see what gear it really has. If its really a 4.10 then I hell I dont know. Did they use different trans gearing in some trucks?

As far as slicks im running 28" on the cc. My original plan was 26", But I found a deal I could not refuse. I have a set of 26" slicks waiting and the new cam will also be going in next week. So mabey some new times to come... But these last few 10ths are getting real expensive
