Im starting to look into getting a new truck. Not sure if I will go with the new style or the classic but I know I want an extended cab short box 4x4. The only option Im having trouble with is the engine. I dont want the 4.8 but Im stuck between the 5.3, 6.0, and vortec max 6.0. Which is going to be the best in terms of aftermarket availability and which will be the easiest and cheapest to turn into a potent monster. I would like to be able to put down atleast 425 hp to the ground.

Sure the 6.0 but which will be better the vortec max or the regular, as far as I know there are 2 6.0 options. Thats what I see from the brochure I got from the dealer. It says the vortec max puts out more power but Im worried that you might not be able to do as much with it performance wise.

depends on what ur future plans are. the HO is going to be stronger stock but if ur gonna replace everything anyways go with the regular 6.0. whatever u do 6.0=way to go.

Well like I said I will be doing some stuff with it but I will really only be looking for about 425hp to the wheels. I dont know what that will take to get but If it will take less with the MAX then I dont see why I wouldnt get it instead.

PROBABLY LESS WITH THE LQ9, BUT THE LQ4 LIKES BOOST. I HAVE THE LOWER COMP. LQ4 WITH 7 PSI AND 475.7 AT THE WHEELS. I KNOW ON THE LQ9, WITH A SET OF L92 HEADS AND A GOOD CAM WILL GET YOU CLOSE TO THAT. IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. GO 6.OL ANYWAY.
LLOK AT CAR CRAFT MAG THIS MONTH LQ4 FROM A JUNK YARD WITH L92 HEADS- I THINK 450 HP. THAT IS OFF THEREGULAR LQ4 6.OL.
