The converter is in and the chatter (thank god) is gone.

So here are my thoughts:

It definitely feels different than the Fuddle. This may be redundant to say, but it's my second converter, so the different performance takes some getting used to.

Fuddle: Seemed to have a lot more torque off the line but maybe climb a little bit slower after the launch.

Yank: Seems to have a little less torque (and almost a lag??) off the line but seems to pull harder after the launch.

Tell me your thoughts - is that to be expected given the different stall speeds? Man the Fuddle sure looks small next to that Yank too. 9.5" compared to 11".

Anyway, post up, tell me what ya think...

Oh and I'm going to do what I can to make it to Ennis. That should tell the real story. I never got it retuned after the Fuddle and obviously after the Yank, so we'll see which one gives better (unadjusted shift points...) times.

Would the difference in size cause your lag? It may only a small difference in size, but I'm sure there's a big difference in the rotating mass.

I'm not sure - could be. ANd yeah, that's the reason why I went with Fuddle initially - less rotating mass should equal 'faster' torque.

I will say this, and it's probably not a big deal to a lot of you guys, but with the Yank, when I get on it, it will catch rubber every time it hits second, which the Fuddle did not do. So that's kind of cool. It kind of strengthens my theory that it pulls harder than the Fuddle once the big thing is up and moving.

I'm not saying anything bad about Fuddle - their just two different converters. I'm anxious to see what it does to my 1/4 mile times.

Fuddle was a 3000, the Yank is a 2600.

See i am in much debate over this cause i heard that Yank is a looser converter, which i like cause at lower rpm's it would be less responsive so you can really here it stall up, the one i have now is a Fuddle and don't get me wrong it is great, but i can only get it to flash to about 3,000 at best which is right at the bottom end of my cam so i am looking at a Yank 3,600-3,800, but i would like to see what other people think about the Yank also, why not go with a better brand if i wanna go with a higher stall

well the yank TT series converters are made tight to drive like a normal stock converter.
it's 11" in diameter and retains stock towing capabilities.

now my yank SS series converter is a totally different animal. it's looser with a higher flash but still streetable. it' a 9.5" in diameter so less rotating mass to spool up faster.

why not re-stall your fuddle?? I would do that before buying another one... I have no complaints about my 3900 fuddle... real streetable as well...

well my friend wants a stall for his 07 truck and i want to go bigger and he will give me the $350 i paid for my converter for $150 more and no down time other then the time to change them out, i can have my higher stall and maybe a little bit looser of a converter, i have really been thinking of a 3,800 maybe possibly a 4,000, but i have put 45,000 miles on my truck in a year and a half so i drive a lot, but who knows i will prob say f**k it and go with the 4,000

My opinion....

When I raced the dirt track, a lighter flywheel was sorta better but the heavier would keep some momentum up.....so with this in mind

I would say you are right about what you are feeling because that 9.5 inch converter is gonna spool up fast and easier....but once it is there then that is it......with your new 11inch verter is is harder to get rollin but once it is goin then your big converter is carrying the momentum and making the dead spots there might be in your hp and torque even out....I hope that all made sense

another thing you might look at is the torque mulptipliers on each converter.....I think that is what it is called.....been a long time since i read anything about them but like my converter...the vigilante, it is something like 3 to 1 or summin like that heck i cant remember...but I would just about swear by what I said before.

hope this helps,
Jarrod
