When I buy this engine, if I take the heads to a machine shop is there anything I can have done to them to make them better.

I did a favor for a guy I know that works at one, that said if I need anything machined on this project he would do it after hours for free.

What do you mean by mill them. I was thinking about port+polish, or something along those lines. He works at a very big shop here in my town, and he is one of the best. I was going to just ask his opinion, but I want to know kind of what to ask to start with.

    Cool

You can buy a 408 stroker for the price of that motor.

Those heads will flow into the 300cfm intake pretty easy. Just the typical port/polish job, polish chambers, etc.

Milling makes the chamber smaller for more compression.

All I have found in a 408 is a short block, for about the same price. Heads, and everything else is more like $6000+. That's how much I want to spend on the engine, and 80e together. I have thought about it, but I can't force myself to spend that much at one time. I was going to get the engine now, and maybe a sc, or something in 6 months to a year.

    Cool

Just keep looking. Use some stock 317 heads for a while if you need.
