There has not been break in oil used my auto manufacturers for maybe about as long as Ricky has been alive. Change like the manufacturer recommends and you'll do it every 5-9K miles. New or not doesn't matter any more either.

On a lighter note, I do agree somewhat. I'd change it every 3K (including the 1st one) with dino oil or longer with synth. I change my filter ever 5K and the oil every 10K. Works for me.

Anyone freaked out or laying awake at night because of my suggestion should change it as often as he feels it's needed.

I change my oil when ever I can which isnt very often. I have the oil in the TBSS changed when it tells me to.

Didn't say anything about break in oil. Just break it period. Its in the owners manual of most brand new cars / trucks. They say don't go over 50mph for the first 500 miles. The changing of the oil like I recommended was because brand new motors will cause metal shavings. Its a good idea to keep those out of your motor. Its like changing gears in your rear end. When ever you change gears its always a good idea to change the fluid out after about 600 miles or so to check for metal shavings. Don't change your oil for 5000000000000 miles I dont care lol. Just passing on my knowledge.

Youre retarded ricky, new trucks dont have a break in period unless you do work to them, we're not driving 86' short wides, and it used to be drive it 500-1000 miles change the oil and you're good, thats like pre loading on protien you gotta drink 10 cups a day to build it up in your system...... quit reading bull****......maybe if you did the work on your truck you would know this kinda stuff
Well Mr. G--I think your cam has a few more miles than that... But yeah, you are right G...you should change it early for the very first oil change, then once that one is done, go at the normal rate. I don't change my oil until the message center on my truck tells me to. The oil life indicator on our trucks measures how hard we drive it--so sometimes it might say to change the oil sooner than the "recommended" 3000 mile mark--which mine does each time. If you drive easy and only on the highway, you may be about to get 7,000 miles out of it...

    Original motor and rear end.
Replaced the trans about 15000 ago...because I WANTED to not because it needed it.

These things will last forever if you take care of them the right way.
Yes, true T-RAV. If you just do the simple maintenance (and especially with how reliable our LS motors are), you can get 500,000 modded miles on it...

Damn, 231,000+ miles. Now im not scared to break into the motor at all. I was just thinkin about spraying it until it let go but now I may try and save for cam, head swap. Cool guys, I feel alot better about breaking over the 100,000 mile mark. Maybe she has another 150,000 left in her...

Or maybe I should save for a new tranny, damn!

Ive ever heard about guys not even starting to mod out a stock motor with that many miles on it...500,000....and go to nearly 750,000 before anything needs to be fixed or changed...not too sure if its true or not just heard it through the grape vine sort of thing.
