At one time, unions were good. Those days, as far as I can tell have been long gone for quite a while.

But its not just one single thing that's landed gm the way (or any automaker for that matter) to the level its at now. Yeah, not buying American, yes unions, greed, and could probably go on for a while like that.

Kind of wish things here worked off of sink or swim. If you get to a low level, as long as you can float you're not sinking. We need to not be able to get benefits just because you're alive, or that you can work the system, or tell some bs reason that makes it hard for people who need real help. Not because we want everything in HD, or everyone having internet.. more like because someone went over seas and had their legs, or hands or something blown off. Not because you spilled coffee in your lap, and your attorney can out argue the other guy.

The world we live in today is utter bull, where the minority prospers, and the majority suffers. In my opinion, the extinction of the human race has begun.. and there's not single thing a single person would be willing to do.. only reason as to why, its all about the one, the only, me.

Now that is where this world, not just this nation, has gone to.

Get rid of the Unions... Get rid of the problems! As a Texan, I'm tired of supporting these midwest, yankee states... It's the Robin Hood Act! Look at every state that has high unemployment right now including California, which will be next to file bankruptcy. My parents, nor my grandparents ever benefited from a Union and/or never were part of one and we didn't go without. Times have changed and the day of the Unions is gone... if not, America as a whole will never get out of this hole. Do Work Son!! Don't hide behind a Union cause your a weak minded lazy slacker.

...... well said.... "self made" sounds alot better than union worker....lol

Ive seen both sides.... Unions are a drain on good hard working Americans, they promote lazy low hour workers that dont have to work hard for promotions or what they want... its just handed to them, deserving or not... I know, ive tried it...

I agree that at one time, unions were good and had good intentions.

So was the KKK when it was started, but you sure don't see many people running out in the open to defend it now.

Times have changed, so must the way of doing business. Unions have inflated the wages so bad, that people *think* that is what the going rate is and/or should be.

Is there a reason why Texas isn't seeing the depth of problems the rest of the country is having? Dunno, but it sure makes a good argument.

this is very true there really hasn't been a need for the unions since the 40's or 50's it drives me crazy, my job security is being proud of my job, working as hard as i can, and doing my job above and beyond what is expected, that isnt just job security there's further job opportunity there too.

I am a union worker. As sad as it is to say I stopped labeling myself as one. For the reasons you have stated. I go to work ON time, ON the days I am scheduled and more, Do more then my job, Come on exhausted and repeat the next day. I dont make a dime more then the chump that is on his "last chance" warning for missing days, spends 4 hours of a 12 hour shift on smoke break and right when hard is started he disappears. When unions began it was to help the hard worker... Now it is to protect the lazy.
If the unions would give the boot to the ones they know are giving them the bad rep (and they know exactly the ones) Making way for good employees that are in need of a job the world may change a bit. If the unions werent backing the lazy people so much you know the companies could clean house.
