And what I can't figure out is why you can't advance the timing curve thru the HPT when it starts taking in air--like when it drops to 19....

Once you start pressuring the intake you need a 2bar MAP sensor to calibrate just as if you had a turbo on the truck. Maybe?

I'm too tired to put any effort into not looking stupid, so - I don't know what a 2 bar MAP sensor is.
Maybe I'll pull the ram air crap completely off on my way home from work and see if that helps...?

Allen hasn't tuned it live with the ram air, no.

Just cover the bumper air inlets with duct tape and see what happens. If it does the same thing it's either the PCM or something else entirely.
