But shouldn't the PCM learn the amount of air coming in?

Well, I am not as smart as Red or anything, but isn't the PCM only able to handle up to certain parameters? I know what you are saying, but it takes a few days for it to learn that stuff. Did Allen do your current tune with the homemade ram air?

And what I can't figure out is why you can't advance the timing curve thru the HPT when it starts taking in air--like when it drops to 19....

Once you start pressuring the intake you need a 2bar MAP sensor to calibrate just as if you had a turbo on the truck. Maybe?

I'm too tired to put any effort into not looking stupid, so - I don't know what a 2 bar MAP sensor is.

Maybe I'll pull the ram air crap completely off on my way home from work and see if that helps...?

I don't know if I'd take it all off, just block it off or take it out of the bottom of the box and rest it inside the engine bay.... From what it looks like, a disconnect would be easy to do to see if that is what is causing the problem...IMO, I think it is the culprit.

Allen hasn't tuned it live with the ram air, no.

Just cover the bumper air inlets with duct tape and see what happens. If it does the same thing it's either the PCM or something else entirely.

then it won't get any air - that's my only source at the moment

Oh. Now that I think about it, can you un-duct tape the port to the fender so it pulls it from there--like back to stock?
