    Why not more 454's?

So why dont we see more LS based 454's in trucks? Is the cost on the motor to high to want to put it in a truck?

That is my guess. I still want a large cube lsx. Not sure how large. At least 427.

I think it would be the initial investment in the lsx block. You can damn near build a complete 408 for the price of a lsx 454 short block.

Yeah. I think boring one to 454 is about as far as you can go. Then once you need to rebuild its a no go.

well the lsx can go up to a 511ci area but once you start looking into bigger than 4.100'' cranks it starts to get expensive, plus the hp numbers arnt that much better than say a 427 but i wouldn't mind building a 440

IMHO if you want big cubes a BBC is still the way to go.

When you take a royal azz whoopin at the drag strip, chances are it was dished out by a big block Chevy.

Everyone has an opinion. I will stick with ls motors until some thing better comes along. Like maybe a helium 3 powered engine.

It's not really just an opinion. A LS motor still can't hang with a healthy big inch BBC and a carburetor.

You don't get out much do you? The LS motor guys have been hanging with and beating the BBC, BBF guys for years now... Go to Yellow Bullet Forums - Powered by vBulletin and lurk around. You will find that LS motors are winning some big races in different classes that have been ruled by BBs over the years... not any more
