honestly i havent even tried yet... i have the BFG TDW 285/30/20 DRs on there. they are sticky as hell on warm days... even beating on the truck its hard to get them to break loose. as far as launching though i will definitely spin im sure. i do need to practice though. ive never riden in a lightning so i have no idea how well they go... i guess i wouldnt be shamed to lose to it because it is FI but id definitely have to do something so i would beat it haha. whether its nitrous or something else. cant be loosing to fords all damn day.... i want to line up with a few stangs as well.

Hmmmm... Have you figured out how to launch it yet? If you have your launch nailed down, then yeah--you can beat it. But it you can't launch the T-56 at close to 3000 rpms from a dig, you both will have traction issues from the start--and you will loose because he is FI.

I would think that with your RCSB truck with the swapped cammed motor and 6-speed tranny, you should be able to take care of him. You just need to perfect the launch. Don;t redline it and drop the clutch--rev it to about 2500 or so and drop-feather it quickly, then mash the gas...

haha ill have to practice. i dont want to smoke my clutch either... it wasnt cheap im sure there is some trick to it ill have to figure out. but like ive said the BFG's seem extremely sticky in the heat and they are extremely wide haha. i had to mount them with my buddies because no tire place would... they said it wasnt possible. im glad we stuffed them on they look BADASS. im definitely bringing a camera for that run though. i already have a guy who wants to ride and film. what are stock lightnings pushing for power? its a 99 so its the one of the years it was lower. high 2's low 3's? ive been wondering what mine will put out as well. im hoping to hit about 300 but who knows.. id love to see the 350 mark but not quite sure what other mods i can do to bump it up besides FI and Nitrous.

A stock 99 Lightning puts out 360 hp...but more importantly--440 ftlb of torque. That is their Achilles Heel--they have such massive low end torque-which makes them hard to launch. They are probably putting a little over 300 hp to the ground.
Your truck is pretty close in the hp department. But you have the luxury of a closer ratio 6-speed transmission. The Lightning only has 4 gears.
There is only really one more thing to do to create more power--a bigger cam. If your truck is not putting out the power you want, you could probably bump up the cam size to a 224/224 .588/.588 112. It would work pretty good with your 6-speed manual tranny.
P.S. You tried to fit some F-body LT headers on there?

wow they put down that much huh? thats pretty crazy... a couple of my buddies drove the truck and said it went good. id really rather not change my cam. i need an intake still which ill probably order tomorrow i have been borrowing my buddies stock 5.3 intake from his truck. i suppose i can always go the nitrous route. i suppose i should probably see what the truck will even do in the 1/4 etc etc ive never owned another "fast" vehicle and havent run anything i would condiser insanely fast i suppose the lightning will give me an idea where i stand. and no i havent tried FBODY LT's i was told nothing fits and so i custome made my exhuast from the manifold all the way to the muffler its 2.5 inch stainless and it Y's about 6 inches before the muffler. i will buy a set of lance when he finishes them. as far as nitrous goes though id probably only run a dry 100 shot. but i know nothing about nitrous and timing and installing it etc..
