Before i took the crank pulley off, should i have put two dots, to make sure it went back on, on the same spot on the crank, or is it all already balanced?

Just put it back on and tighten the crap out of it. Follow the torque instructions.

I will have to get a vicegripy base for the dial indicator, my aluminum magnet base wore out!

Just to prove Redheartbeat right I set up a dial indicator and found out that 240 degrees tighten the adjustment nut it comes out to .045".

What is the ideal amount of preload on stock lifters?
CompCam RR destructions say 180 degrees which would give a preload of .033". Any thoughts?

I was about to say--why remove the intake??? But oh well, everybody lives and learns... Good work dude! I bet you are pretty happy you got everything in without problems! Yeah, it will take 3-4 times for it to start...but once it does, you'll LOVE the idle on that biatch!

Actually it started up after the first crank (i did prime it a little though, turned the crank a couple of times, to make sure oil was movin) All i can say is it souds bad ass straight headers. It does die a if i don't keep my foot in it a little bit. Its a manual though, so i can keep it the r's up till i get a tune. I plan on getting it tuned friday. And i plan on getting the exaust put on tomorrow. headers, then cats, then y pipe, i think, down to a spintech muffler, out to my turn downs. i'll get the video up of what it sounds like straight headers sometime this week. I'll also try to get a video up of what it sounds like after i put the exaust back on too.
