haha, ok scratch that. too big for any truck im guna be driving. i need an every day driver. not a lopey dragster at every light. i gotta keep this operation under cover too. my dad would shit a brick if i pulled in the driveway sounding like i have a vaccume leak. im thinking of a high lift 222/222 or the good ol tr224 on a 112 lsa.

The early 97-98 had perimeter type bolt pattern on the valve covers, 99+ are centerbolt. The later model heads flow a little better out of the box. The early model engine blocks are slightly weaker between the cam and crankshaft centerline. Later models have more aluminum in those areas to strengthen the block. The later blocks also have larger oil ventilation to get the oil out of the valve train and back into the oil pan. 2001+ intakes are LS6 flat bottom design and have about a 15HP bonus. 2002 was the best fbody LS1. 2001-2004 LS1s are available from GTOs and Vettes and are great engines. Be sure to try to get 243 head castings if you can. 241s are good, also.

my truck had the 4.8 in it and I swapped everything directly onto my longblock ls1 from a c5...oilpan, pulley, all accessories, the whole nine yards. It will run on the tune, just get a good tune it in asap.

    hope this helps!!

The 243 heads came on the LS6 engines and later on the LS2 engine, that's where I got mine. They are off of a GTO.

ok...im thinking its a 99 camaro now. i found a picture of it and it has black mirrors. 2000 was the first year that they colormatched the mirrors. what casting number would be on a 99 camaro. i cant find that in any of the searches ive done

edit: ok im positive its a 99 camaro now. 99 was the first year for the light pewter color and the last year for the black mirrors.

edit 2: ok i figured out i have 853 heads. guessing these suck?
