That is a gen IV motor I want to say they stopped making LQ9s and renamed the gen IV 6.0 LY6. It's a great motor. Be very careful with that 4L60E it is a time bomb after much of any modding. You can build your own intake pretty easy. NP does mail order tunes with free retunes. Why not just go that route?

Won't I have to buy some hardware to do mail order tunes?

Yeah I already know the weakness of the 4l60e, I had one in my last tahoe that shit the bed and it was kinda pricey for a rebuild, nothing like my ally build but still pricey. Too much needs to be done to make this tahoes drivability to be in the spectrum of what I want, nice quick and snappy throttle response through out the powerband.... sounds like this may get spensive...

You also have to factor in that the tahoe is a fat pig. Best bet is to due the said above mods, and not sure if stall and gears were put in there but those would help also.

Nope. With NP you pay for the tune they send you a freshly tuned PCM, you swap it out for your stock one, and mail it back. Tada! 25 hp and improved power across the rpm range.

Again I pose the question? What gears does she have?

I would've thought it would be the 6 speed auto in an LTZ Tahoe? Or not in the 08? 4.10s, tune, intake and exhaust should wake it up pretty good I would think!

Only if you are going to e-mail him a "snapshot" of what your PCM is doing, then yes you would need to buy hptuners. If you get with someone that already has hptuners then all you would need is to buy credits. Someone that knows more about this will hopefully clear it up or add more to it. PM this guy, maybe you can work together, I think he is in Crosby. http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/members/greenvortec.html

I'd have to go pull the RPO codes and look at which rear gear is in there, it's a 2wd so I am betting it is nothing big

I wish it were a 6speed, I would love a 6L series trans in that thing... but it is a 4speed

Lots of 5.3L tahoes come with the 6speed. You should definitely snap a pic of the RPOs and post it up.
