I was just checking the site, and the ET Street slicks I have for my 16x7 say the minimum is 8". But for the ET Street radiuls it says the minumum rim width for the size tire is like 9.5". The rims I am looking at getting are 18x7 or 17x7. Is this going to seal correctly or am I going to have problems if I end up running at a high mph if I use the tires that require a 9.5" minumum on a 18x7 or 17x7 wheel?

I guess the question now is, would a 18x8 with a 31mm offset, tuck with a 28.8" tall tire on my 6" drop

Depends on the tire width and rim offset. Is the 31mm a positive or negative offset?
EDIT: Just the offset will move the wheel and tire 1.25" in/out (depending on offset) from your Cragar's

The 5" cragar pushed the wheel out, the stock escalade wheels are a +31mm offset

28.8 sounds great for a heavy truck and for a turbo.

the reason for the different minimum wheel width could be the sidewall thickness. the radials could be harder to put on a skinnier wheel?? My roomate has 315/75-16's on his factory 2500HD wheels with no problems at all. i see no issue as long as they fit in the wheel well. gary

ya lot of guys run 315's on stock wheels (so a 12.5 tire on a 7" rim) you DO get ballooning, doing it with tall sidewall is dangerous cuz the tire can pop off on hard turns.

On lower profile tires, it'll be harder to get the bead to seat, but it'll stay that way once it's on. A wider rim will just give you better road contact. Your outer 1/2 inch might bubble out, but lowering psi should fix that a little.

My cousin has a 81 malibu with a 502 and 2 stage nitrous and he only runs a 10.5 slick on stock suspension...I can't imagine you needing much more then that.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

That size was the only size I could find to keep it close to the 28" tall tire, I didnt wanna go to a 26" tall tire and lose any mph

Yeah thats what I was figuring too
