They need to realize, if they have a vette, they're gonna get challenged.
The vette is the top of the food chain, as far as stock vehicles, so when someone beats one it's a great feeling for winner.
The vette owners need to realize there are faster trucks/cars out there, and if they don't think so, just come over and visit us.

Hell, my cammed, stalled GTO is faster than a ls2 vette lol, it doesn't take much.

I will give the vette owners this, it's more of a package deal when owning a vette, it's just not about speed. It's a status symbol, or whatever.

Whats priceless is when you stomp the mess out of one on the freeway and slow back to down to see the look on his face when a 20K truck pulls 6+ links on him in his 85K car. Thats when the attitude shows its face the best...

i am a member there as well but i go to the C3 side. That forum is the vette equivalent to GMFS. There are a few guys on there that are cool and have helped me out. I dont like to linger over there tho. many will ostracize you(million dollar word of the week) if you dont do what they do.

Why buy a car like the vette, if you dont want to beat the hell out of other cars/trucks with it? To be so pompous and to think that youre untouchable only makes it sweeter when someone buries your butt with a modded truck. Those guys give vette owners a bad name. I call them 'asshats'

I got through two pages and couldn't take anymore. Seriously a vette slaughter should be set up. They are just like those damn L owners. I'm not saying that my truck is in anyway faster than a vette but there are MANY on here that would smoke all but about 3 vettes. I see boatloads if vettes everyday on the way to work and I have yet to see one that was not driven by an old ass dude. Even tho I know I should get smoked I still try and race them...none of the old peckers will race me!!! What's up with that??? I thought the vette was the greatest American sports car ever made and it could destroy any modded vehicle anytime.

Back before the local dragstrip (in Scribner, NE) was closed down, once a year the Mustang club and the Corvette club would rent the track for a day. I think the last one I went to was in '99 or so, so it would have been before the C5 I believe.

The Vette guys wouldn't race the Mustangs. We had to take turns, with the Mustangs running each other for an hour or so, then the Vette guys would take their turn and race each other. I like Vettes a lot and would love to own one, but I was actually shocked at how slow they were. Most ran in the 15-17 sec range that I remember. There were a few fast ones, but not many. I very distinctly remember a beautiful blue Stingray with side pipes.....that baby sounded mean. Yet on his run, he only ran 15 sec. I couldn't believe it. My 13.7 sec (on motor) car was faster than 90%+ of the Vettes there, and I have a road-race suspension not a drag race setup. My 60-ft times are horrible as well (2.2-2.5) due to the stiff road-race suspension and getting too froggy at the light. With my setup, my car is easily the equal of a Vette in the twisties too, just not in braking. I haven't given my car a good brake treatment yet. That'll be a $10K project some year: $3K for brakes, $1500 for a 5-lug conversion, $3Kish for a full-floater 9-inch (to be legal for both drag racing and SCCA), $2500ish for new tires and rims......and to do it right, I'd have to do it all at once. Not gonna happen for a long time.

I don't race people on the street in the middle of town. Kids pull up next to me in my car and goose their throttle all the time, trying to pick a race, but I won't. What I WILL do is go out to a deserted 2-lane where people aren't around and it's safe, and race there. The kids probably think I'm chicken, but I don't care. I want to have fun (duh, that's why I own the car in the first place), but I want to make sure other people don't get hurt too.

IMO the Corvette is a nice car. It's their owners that need a good butt-kicking. With the advancements the Vette has made in the last 10 years, it's harder to do now.......but definitely still doable.
