I had an lt1 in my 1988. it was a 383 stroker and it was a pain in the ass. never got it right before it took a dump on me. NEVER AGAIN! Curse the lt1 and its pitiful optispark and old school design. Go LS much more bang for the buck. Plus, you can make 700hsp on a stock bottom end on an LS. Dont even think of trying that with the pitiful LT. Iv done it, dont waste your time! oh yea, anyone wanna buy lt1 parts? lol

as for ease of swap. the LT1 will be much easier as its the same as a vortec motor aka SBC that came stock in those trucks.

to use a Dist you need to find an intake with provsion which is possible if you go with a carb or get an EFI intake that is stock and have someone drill a hole for the dist and build up the base with some weld. ive seen it done on a 9s F1R blazer.

as for power cant touch the LS motors but it comes down to your budget really and knowledge

This is a must, you'll have a lot less problems heres the intake you need.

if he uses the lt1 accessory brackets it is trick. for any impala, camaro, trans am, or firebird lt1, you will have to get a different set of accesory brackets from say street and performance, or notch the frame. you can use corvette accesories as they mount everything up top. either way its alot of cutting or alot of money for brackets!

Use LT1 Corvette brackets and no notching is needed but you're still using 14 year old technology and a crappy ignition system. I ran one for about 8 years. Loved the power until I had to buy my first $400 optispark unit and $200 water pump.

it takes a certain type of person to want to fight the lt1 but when they run good, they run GOOD!

No crap, Greg. My only problem with this post of yours is how cheap you bought those parts. GM wants in excess of $500 for the Opti-crap and more than $300 for the pump....plus all the other stuff that's needed to make an over-glorified 267 run. Anyone familiar with the LT1 (not the LT-1 that is a different 350 all together) also knows that finicky jumper harness between the engine harness and the Opti-bark is $200 and IS ONLY 4-6 WIRES....!!!!

Even NAPA prices are better than GM.
