    I think you have to use clear to thin the black and keep it where light can pass through it. Three coats of black would be totally opaque and no light would be visible through the black paint.

    also if you get paint work done... have the guy mix a litle black, or whatever color, in the clear and just spray over the lights... works on all the lights too. Looks nice.

    Hey guys, thanks for all the positive comments. I used model car window tint by Testors to tint my lights. One small can was just barely enough to get my lights how they are. Then I shot some clear over that as well. I scuffed the lights with 1500 grit sand paper and made sure it was perfectely clean before shooting the tint. I still need to wet sand and buff, but they look good for now. I'll be doing my room mate's pretty soon and will take pictures along the way to make a how-to.
    New project truck:

    '00 ECSB 4wd, 5.3, 3" body lift, gap guards, 18x9 Moto Metal 951's, 305/60/18 Mickey Thompson MTZ's

    To-do list: Built rear end, 6.0 swap with built top end, 4L80e, and a couple bottles in the bed.

    I just shaved all the decals and emblems off the tail gate and gave it a good buff and polish. I love the clean look of it now.

    VHT Night Shades is paint for lights and plastic.

    Truck looks good man!
    My buddy sprayed the tails on mine and I love em, also did the 3rd brake light.
    '01 ECSB Red 2wd
    7" lift on 17" Eagles and 35" Pro Comps pc'd satin black
    de-badged, smoked tails, grille inserts
    5.3, 91 tuned, cold air,TB spacer, Thorley LT headers, 3" Flowmaster
    4.56 gears, posi-trac
