Let's all go make BABIES!!! Lots and lots of them, esp. the stupid people!! So unemployment can continue to skyrocket well into the future!! With so many people on earth with no job and nothing to do all day but use up every last resource left on earth!! More people will help with global warming also... the average person puts out 400btu's!! Then we can all hold hands and sing kumbaya while the mothership 4 million lightyears away laughs, what was this thread about again? Oh yeah, how upper management and the UAW took down the largest automobile maker in the world.

Wow, just read through 14 pages of this and feel as though it's everyone against George (as usual) J/k. Not trying to stir everything back up but...
I agree about the whole unioins were good at one time or for certain trades, but what about this example: players union for baseball. You have guys making 10's of millions of dollars every year to play a GAME all because the unions are protecting them and asking for that kind of money. Yes, agents play a role here as well but only because the union allows them to. I just can't see how unions are a good thing these days.
I also read where someone wrote that union pay was better than non-union. I think that's relative to where you work. Most people here don't make $9 and hour for a trade unless it's standing behind a cash register in a HEB.
Here's a question for you George (not being an Ahole, just asking), since you are/were part of a union, how does it feel when you are busting your A and getting paid the same as someone who is slacking? Does/did management do anything about it besides a slap on the wrist? The point I'm trying to make is that there are downfalls to both union and non-union sides in regards to slackers and favortism. All you can do is bust your rump, do what's asked of you (or more) and let the cards fall where they land. Can't depend on someone else to protect you.

In response to the hydrogen powered vehicles post...
Yes, hydrogen cars have been developed and are fully functional. The issue is supplying hydrogen. All stations would have to be fully equipped to store the hydrogen. It has to be compressed and kept in liquid form, which means extreme sub-zero temperatures.

Seems some oil companies are researching pulling hydrogen out of the hydro-carbon. I wonder what we do with the carbon afterwards...,not what we need. Unless it all comes from Texas, and Alaska.
But totally agree with the diesel for now, and hydrogen for the future. The whole plugin car, just not something I'm interested in doing. Especially with the price of electricity now. Even over this way where most is from hydro-electric dams, I don't understand that by the way, cost nothing to create, other than up keep, but cost the same as oil, or coal plants
It would be awesome to see a GM hydrogen powered. We should also convert all our v8's to burn hydrogen, maybe a little less power, but hey just boost it more FTW. Hydrogen, the more you compress it, the more power you can get if you burn it.

Actually, tyler was wrong about one thing. The Civil War was very much a matter of eminent domain. You see, regardless of what anyone might want to believe, Africans WERE considered property. The government wanted to release them as free but the government wouldnt pay up because human beings never should be considered property. So hundreds of thousands of dollars were payed to buy slaves and that money was not to be compensated. It wasnt the only reason but it was a huge one.
And GM needs the Baby Dmax to come out already.
