WoW ,you can tell this is a texas based forum.GM dying has nothing to do with half this hread.Im not north -south union or non ,but it sounds like alot of people are still fighting the war.[I heard that from an old man once].Ive been all over the country and ive loved eveywere n-s-e-w I went, nothing but hospitable people, but this is opening my eyes alittle ,just reading this thread[you guys are biased for sure].jeez guys ,were talking about GM ,not another North /South war.Just love everyone ,were all havin hard times ,blame it on the government not each other .Tyler nice write up ,Ive ran 2 companies my self for 22 yrs by working my azz off,but something is going wrong my numbers are down 50% on the tow company and 80% on the construction company, and trust me im out theyre everyday tryin, makes it hard to still pay 1300 dollars a month for health insurance because I MAKE TOO MUCH,LOL.But the brother down the rd with twelve kids and no job is living large with monthly checks, good health insurance ,and food stamps .God bless us all and hope this turns around quickly.

It'll come around. This is america for crying out loud. Even with some not pulling their own weight, we'll come out of it. And hopefully stronger than everyone else again, so no one messes with us. GM will be back, just a little hiatus, and they'll be back, stronger than ever.

And no matter where in this nation you go, most everyone will be very hospitable, even though we (mostly north and south) have such strong view points on things, and the way it should be.

Thanks. Not being conceited at all (trust me, I don't have the personal confidence to be conceited), but maybe I should be a journalist????

Let's all go make BABIES!!! Lots and lots of them, esp. the stupid people!! So unemployment can continue to skyrocket well into the future!! With so many people on earth with no job and nothing to do all day but use up every last resource left on earth!! More people will help with global warming also... the average person puts out 400btu's!! Then we can all hold hands and sing kumbaya while the mothership 4 million lightyears away laughs, what was this thread about again? Oh yeah, how upper management and the UAW took down the largest automobile maker in the world.

Wow, just read through 14 pages of this and feel as though it's everyone against George (as usual ) J/k. Not trying to stir everything back up but...

I agree about the whole unioins were good at one time or for certain trades, but what about this example: players union for baseball. You have guys making 10's of millions of dollars every year to play a GAME all because the unions are protecting them and asking for that kind of money. Yes, agents play a role here as well but only because the union allows them to. I just can't see how unions are a good thing these days.

I also read where someone wrote that union pay was better than non-union. I think that's relative to where you work. Most people here don't make $9 and hour for a trade unless it's standing behind a cash register in a HEB.

Here's a question for you George (not being an Ahole, just asking), since you are/were part of a union, how does it feel when you are busting your A and getting paid the same as someone who is slacking? Does/did management do anything about it besides a slap on the wrist? The point I'm trying to make is that there are downfalls to both union and non-union sides in regards to slackers and favortism. All you can do is bust your rump, do what's asked of you (or more) and let the cards fall where they land. Can't depend on someone else to protect you.

In response to the hydrogen powered vehicles post...

Yes, hydrogen cars have been developed and are fully functional. The issue is supplying hydrogen. All stations would have to be fully equipped to store the hydrogen. It has to be compressed and kept in liquid form, which means extreme sub-zero temperatures.
