    Feel sorry for the others.

Ok I took my truck to get an alignment, had a little tiny bit of pull, no big deal they all come out of alignment in time. I knew it just needed some toe in, went to pick it up tonight they wanted to replace the inner tie rods on both sides, re-balance my tires, and do the lower ball joints. Oh and said my rear brakes needed done and my fronts were iffy WTF? No, nothing is bent the truck has never hit anything the tie rods are fine. The tires are fine they balanced with almost zero runout. The truck has 40000ish miles the ball joints are fine, I check them every time I change the oil too. And the brakes, wtf? The wheels dont have to come off for an alignment, hunting sons of bitches. I'm so glad I have the knowledge that I cant get scammed. Rant over.

ya, i had a shop give me almost a $3000 (wertenburger in huntington indiana) bill to alignment my 1989 z24, i had just replaced everything that could be unbolted with energy, moog, prothain, eibach, kyb and so on. and even the rack&pinion, shocks & struts, bla blagh bla. long story short, i was like REALLY, the manager told me that he couldnt take it off the lift because it was so worn out that it was unsafe and gave me an estimate for new parts and labor for the parts i just replaced, what a thief, so i asked to get my cigarettes out of my car and got the reciepts for everything out of the glove box and threw them in his face (literally) and called him everything but a white man, then made him pick them up. buy the time i got done yelling everyone that worked there was in the lobby and the cops were on the way, im tired of typing so end rant. when i took the car to monroe they put it on the machine and let it down and told me that it didnt even need to be alighned, i was close enough, then we all bashed wertenburger.

That's pretty much typical. It's hard to get an alignment without them telling you everything is worn out. Alignment shops have been doing it for years. And their favorite thing is to tell you your car is so unsafe they can't let you leave in it without repairs.

A friend of mine owns a repair shop and he had a customers car he had just replaced most everything on the front suspension. The alignment shop told him it was all worn out. Then they did the old channel lock on the tie rod end thing and it actually looked like there was some slop in them (but they were new). When he told them the car was there for an alignment because he just replaced everything, they shut up.

Another friend of mine was a manager at a well known muffler chain that also does front end work. Every time I went in there he would tell me my front end was worn out. I would look at him and tell him to STFU. He'd just laugh and walk away.

This is the first time my truck has been into a shop, I hated it. I don't even like people around it or in it or anything

Def some shady places out there. Same type deal with Prego. When we were apart back in the day some oil change place handed her a 2K estimate. Funny, that was over 2 years ago. DOUCHERS!!!!!!!!!!! Same bad tires, bad brakes, bad this, and bad that.

Forgot to add this, got it back last night went for a good drive this morning, damn thing is worse. Just got home from getting my money back and dropping the truck off to where I should have taken it the first time. Anyway the old boy who's doing it says he has a couple tricks up his sleeve to set the front end up for better weight transfer so we'll see.

I need an alignment BADLY but my tie rods are factory...230,000 miles of hard driving will take it's toll on them I guess . I'm glad I know the guys doing the alignment or I would be expecting the same stuff to happen. Looks like I will be getting some new tie rods and installing them some day
