I put shield and am guessing that it is lighter. Just a guess though.

Shield, lets air pass between it and the trans... cooler trans is a happy trans!

Shield because they don't get oil or dirt/mud soaked. Reason #2, you only get 2 feet in life that work correctly, all replacement feet/legs are an inconvenience.
