    Torque converter install

Hopefully there is an easy answer to this question. On a 4L60, Exactly how do you install a torque converter onto the input shaft. I know there are a few particular steps to this process and I don't want to break anything on start-up. Suggestions?

Make sure it is completely seated all the way. Should be barely touching the bellhousing.

pour about 1/2 quart of oil into it and then slide it on. Slowly turn it while lightly pushing in. You should feel it click into position. You can't put it in too deep so take your time and make sure you get it all the way in. Put a straight edge across the end of the trans and measure the distance to the bolt hole that mates to the flexplate. Go under the truck and measure the distance from the block mating point to the far side of the starter ring on the flex plate. The depth on the converter should be just slightly deeper.

I though there was some crazy process involving pushin the converter on, spinning it, wait for a click or something, then do that again, maybe drink a beer, then kick the damn thing, etc.

filling it just makes it more likely to spill. It gets filled by the pump anyway. 1/2 qt keeps it from frying anything inside at initial startup.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

About how many times should I slowly turn while pusing lightly and feel it click? I've heard guys on here saying anywhere from 2-3 times. About how many quarts of fluid will the 4L60 and converter need?

Should not take more than one turn.
