    Cheap 13's

Ok just want you guys opinions. When my truck gets a 5.3 what do you think the cheapest way to get it in the 13's is. Spray isn't an option, unless I wanna pay either massive insurance or massive fix-it tickets and impound fee's. Yeah I want to go faster than that eventually but for now I think a 13 truck on the streets would be fun.

With the 5.3 in a reg. cab, i'd say full bolt-on's, gears- maybe 4.10's, stall-i guess maybe 3200 if it's straight daily driver, cam-someone else can pick one, and of course a good tune should get you well into the 13's

    Bolt on's, Comp 268 cam, Oasis 22's
    12.63 @106.48-125 shot with bolt-on's
13.7- N/A with setup in sig. have a time slip with all the numbers but gotta find it first.
    New Numbers............BOOM!!!!
    New setup coming soon...

Nitrous, 3000rpm stall, free flow exhaust, and a Nelson performance tune. you should be low 13's high 12's. IMO

I have the same truck as you. Although mine does not have mud flaps.. Anyway all you need for thirteens is a tune, gears, stall, cam, springs, and some sticky tires. That is the combo that put me into the low 13's. any more than that and you will need to start thinking about NOS, SC, Turbo, or weightloss, a bigger engine, and heavy mods.

As you can see, there's not really such a thing as "cheap 13's"...

Moze brings up a good point, as I completely forgot to mention my complete exhaust sytem. Headers, off road y-pipe, muffler and short tailpipe. I also did not include all of the electronics you should have onboard to monitor the near 400 RWHP you will need for these numbers. The problem with the truck is the huge amount of power, and traction needed to get the 4500 lbs +, off the line and up to speed. I think alot of folks throw numbers around so much they forget just how fast each bracket is. For example riding in an 11 second rocket will feel like you are almost sitting still in a high 13 ride. while the numbers could be close, The felt experiance, power and money for that extra quickness is very very far appart. As you get into the 11's and 10's the variables are so many you will not get the same numbers even with setups that seem the exact same. Just some thoughts.

I know you said "Cheap 13's" I really think the only sure fire way to accomplish this is to buy a used sport bike. Otherwise you are looking at N20 in which the fact is you could be looking at some serious cash to get a big heavy truck down the track without serious issues.

Thanks guys I guess I can't do it as cheap as I thought (thinking about $1500) on top of the new 5.3, but some of you guys should really pay attention better I don't need a stall, the trucks a standard and will stay a standard, unless I lose my left leg in a terrible accident lol. And HIC leave my poor mud flaps alone I hate them too but rock chips are worse, and as far as the cheap bike goes, 1983 Honda CB650 12.42 for $600.

i personally think you can do it, get with allen, on the budget build, a cam 220/220 or 224, headers, and heads, you can find the cam rather cheap through out the web ( other sites ) heads, i got a set for ya , assembled even a cam, you can get this for less 1500.00 headers would be the only thing you'll need new.. unless you get lucky and find a set on the net.. but you'll have to do the work forself to make this a budget.. i personally domt think it would take much to get a RCSB in the 13s now how low would be another story....
