Angry

Yesterday could turn out to have been a very bad day...

I need ideas where to start. First a little background. I was out doing some WOT runs, 3rd gear 120 mph+, and it shut down. I mean shut down dead. Reduced Engine Power displayed, I coasted to the shoulder and tried to restart, but nothing. All electrical systems appear to operate fine. Starter "clicked" when I tried to fire, so I thought it was the battery. Got a jump, nothing. New battery, nothing. When I crank it, it responds with a "thud". Got one code, P1516, but I think that was from draining the battery & trying to restart.

No smoke, no parts blown through the side of the block. The only sound it made was a screeching sound before stopping.

I tried to turn the engine over via the crank bolt, but it won't budge. Seems locked up or something. Where should I start?

    I think I feel like

Yep, sounds like you trashed the crank.

How do I easily confirm the problem?

Look for yourself a forged shortblock with 8.5-9.0:1 compression so you can turn up the boost. Sorry to hear about the bad luck but when one door closes another one opens for a new opportunity. It's still a beautiful truck so don't get depressed, just think of it as an opportunity to make it better.

She looks like she's got the hang-dog look going on. She probably knows it's getting ready to become dangerously fast.

I'd say there isn't an easy way. It's all going to hurt!

Get you a socket and cheater bar on the crank pulley and tighten the hell out of it. If it won't move try loosening. If it won't move at all you either broke a rod and embedded it in the crank or you spun the mains and locked it up tight. Since it's locked up you'll have to pull the convertor out with the engine, you won't be able to get to the bolts to remove it. Remove the engine and transmission as an entire assembly. That is going to be your only option and believe me, it's easier than trying to seperate the two while they're in the truck.
