yeah it might be easier, but I got it out all the same, and it wasnt even that difficult to leave it on there. or I didnt think it was. I think itll be easier to drop the 5.3 in because it doesnt have all those front accessories on it.

intake/exhaust for the time being. about another month or so its gonna be FLT, detroit, and some gears. Stew (TxSilverado) wants me to break his 13.4 before I cam it. Thats what he ran with stock internals, and full bolt ons, so thats what Im shooting for first.

    DAY 2

Wel I didnt get that much stuff done yesterday. I had to go up to austin in the morning to sign a lease on a house, and I didnt get back till like two, so that cut my day in half. I was able to get the rest of the exhaust out, finish undoing the 4.3 wiring harness, clean the engine bay up, clean the 5.3 wiring harness with some contact cleaner, put some di-electric onto it, connect the 5.3 wiring harness to the transmission, get the 4.3 engine onto the engine stand, and get the 5.3 ready to go in. I know for a fact I could have set the engine in last night, but I had to bolt up the oil pan and windage tray, and I didnt have the bolts, and it was already like 1030. So I just called it a night. Here are some more pics. Im shooting to get it all in by today, but like before, Im not gonna hold my breath.

You have a flywheel from a late model truck or LS1 to go on there? Do you also have a crankshaft extension and bolts or a torque convertor guide extension? I believe those are necessary to use the V6 transmission with the 5.3L engine.

My flywheel and everything from my V6 bolted up just fine. Didn't need anything as far as that is concerned. It was all compatible.

Shag, what engine did you install? Early 6.0L engines bolted right into a Gen1 type trans due to a longer crank snout on the flywheel end. LS1 type shorter crankshafts require a spacer bolted to the transmission side of the flywheel to support the convertor and to keep it centered. Hughes makes an extension to slide over the end of the converter to prevent having to buy the spacer and bolts.

i have an 01 4.3 that i put a '04 5.3 in. I think Ducky is using the same year motor as his truck so I think everything as far as the trans is concerned should bolt up fine with no problem. I thought he was doing a 5.3 but I might be mistaken. If it is a 6.0 then I have no clue.
