the fuel gauge is also serial data. youll need a 250ohm sending unit
in the tank. wire the sending unit to the PCM.

So how many ohms is the stock 2004 sending unit?

Serial data? So i can't just tap onto all my sensors and hook them up to my factory jeep electronic gauges huh....i have to get a chevy cluster? i think i'll figure out how to get signals from other sensors...maybe double up on sensors...your thoughts?

Double the sensors. That works great. I've done it twice now and I have no regrets. What's nice is I can hook HPT or any scanner to my OBDII port and double check their readings.

the signal goes from the sensor to the pcm, then the wire that goes to your dlc is the same serial wire to the insturment cluster

as for gauging, if you plan on using the OE JEEP cluster, youll have
to use the OE sending unit for that specific gauge. the resistance in
the sending unit is matched to that gauge. you might be lucky to
match another "style" sending unit, but thats as far as that goes.
the tach and speedo will be harder...
your JEEP cluster uses what for a speedo? cable? electronic?
your tach was a 4cyl or 6cyl OE?
you might be able to use a tach adapter to change voltage and
resolution for the genIII.
there is an oil tap at the filter/oil pan line. as for coolant the
passenger side cylinder head has a plug, but the thread adapter may not
allow the sending unit to "submerge" to sense correctly.
