Thread: 1998 c-1500 wt 4.3 vortec to 5.7 vortec swap

    I NEED HELP!!!!! im taking my 1998 c-1500 2wd short bed reg cab chevy with a 5 speed manual transmission and im swapping a 1998 5.7 vortec motor into it the trany in the parts truck was a auto. i need help with the transmission, i have heard they will mate fine but the clutch in the 4.3 and the flywheel is different does anyone have any suggestions??? anything will help

    Should be an easy interchange. My 92 was a 4.3L V6 with 5 speed and I swapped to an LT1 and used the stock V6 clutch and flywheel on the LT1 from the 4.3L engine. Everything bolted up, even the 4.3L starter worked on the V8 engine.

    awesome that makes my life easier because im buying a stage 2 clutch from centerforce and i wanted to make sure i got it right the first time, so ill buy the 4.3 flywheel and clutch set thanks a million man i bet that lt1 rips im hoping to have around 300 horses and 400ft lbs time will tell&#33;
