    GMHTP did a buildup with billets caps and they had about another &#036;500 in machine work for the installation. That was to install and line bore the block. Something about they have to rough machine them to round and then hone them.

    Ouch, I think you had a bad main to begin with. I havent read where anyone else has killed mains in a less then extreme app like ours. I have read where the cast mains cause block distortion in 1000hp+ apps but not in the range we are in.

    absolutely no need for aftermarket main caps on anything under 1500RWHP or so.

    Matt Harlan had stock crank and mains in his LOW 8 second fbody at ~1200rwhp
