    Nope because your 4.8 is the exact same one. Horsepower is not too much different from the 4.8 and 5.3 Its greater, but not like my 4.3 to 5.3 is.

    my dad has a ex cab 5.3 vs my single cab 4.8 and he kills me in a race lol....thats y im a firm believe that there is a big difference.....

    the difference between the fastest N/A scsb 5.3 in comparison to the fastest N/A 4.8 scsb is a little over 7/10 difference.

    your harness, computer everything will roll right over to the 5.3 even the mounts if not mistaken... flash your pcm to the 5.3 with a tune and be good to go ..throw some headers and a cam in that 5.3 and your dad would be looking at your tail gate alot.. lol

    You don&#39;t have to flash to 5.3, just scale the engine size in the tune to 5.3L and tune it. If you have a Nelson tune he will take care of that for you.

    yeah u should be able to use ur harness from ur 4.8. the swap is easy to do and ull see nice gains. i didnt know u were scrapping the 4.8 and keeping the harness thats why i said make sure bout the harness.

    Yea man it will be a direct swap..if would be easy if you could find a PCM from the same guy he sells em for 50&#036;...he might even have the one that came with the truck you could use it because it would already have toe 5.3 settings...or just get allen to send you one and send yours back during the swap...

    You could easily sell you 4.8 for what your getting for the 5.3

    OH crap forgot to mention&#33;&#33;

    Your oil pan will transfer over

    Shit your already ready to go&#33;&#33;

    Dude your basically getting a free engine haha in the long run..

    Dude you need to read up some more.

    If you&#39;re wanting more power out a 4.8 just swap a cam in. The only difference "ONLY" in a 4.8 to a 5.3 is the crank and the connecting rods, and that&#39;s it. Getting a tune for 93 opens up more power also.

    You can get a crank from a 5.3, 6.0 or a 5.7. They&#39;re all the same, same stroke, same bolts, same every thing.

    If you&#39;re going to do an engine swap, don&#39;t bother with a 5.3, just do a 6.0.

    Not much difference b/t the 4.8 & 5.3. Same bore, different stroke, 10hp more and about 25lbft torque (w/ 5.3). You&#39;ll notice a slightly faster pick-up from a dig with the 5.3, but is it really worth the swap hassle... that&#39;s for you to decide. 10hp/20lbft torque for &#036;500 & 20hrs of labor. Worth your time or what?

    Tuning for a 5.3 (stock-ish) is as easy as scaling the correct cyl volume, designating engine size, and airflow values for a smoother idle & driveability. Been there done that... ask me about a Yukon that blew a stock 5.3, and went to an auction with a perfectly running 4.8.
