This is kind of experimental just to see if I felt any gains or not. The concept is the same as any other cold air intake - the more you can get to the engine, the better.

So I put two "collectors" in place of the tow hooks...


The drivers side one has an elbow which hopefully pushes the incoming air smoothly around to join the air from the passengers side "collector"...


The passengers side "collector" runs straight back to a "T" where the air from the drivers side meets up with it, then a series of elbows sends it up into the stock air box...



Maybe it's my imagination, maybe the ported throttle body is getting a little better each day, but mid- to top-end feels GOOD. I imagine there's quite a bit of air being pushed through the two 4" openings. I would have to think there would be SOME improvement over the stock intake location (through the fenderwell!?)...

Anyway, I didn't get too crazy painting it yet and yes, it has some slight give so it's not quite centered, but if I decide to keep it, I'll make it look a little prettier.

I like it. It can't hurt. What you should do is find collectors that will fit perfectly over those, or make it to where those circular collectors fit entirely over that square, then find some grille that matches your to cover the area. I swear you won't spend that much more on it, just time.

Did you notice anything from it? I'm sure you didn't really, but still a cool design.

Well I think I noticed some at higher speeds - likely when the air is being forced through the filter more. But I'm with you on the fitment issue. The problem is the framing where the hook bolts to is right in the way, so there's not a lot of room to do stuff. I may just buy some sheet metal and custom fab some collectors that surround the entire opening. Same idea as Volants ram air - just more of it.

It pulls harder when I&#39;m going over say 60 or so...but like I said, that could be the throttle body - who knows.

What I DO know is it isn&#39;t hurting anything. Now I just need to pretty it up some.

With hell freezing over and dual cold air ports on the front bumper, that thing ought to run a whole lot better now.

I would be carefull to not go threw any water. You dont want that sucked up. I did something silimiar. But i used a dryer hose and instead of routing it to the bottom i routed it behind the front grill.
