In TX it could be over $400 plus it gets reported directly to your insurance company by the DA's office.

What was your story?
[/b]
I was racing a friend, we raced about 2 times, and i beat him both times. So, on the last race from a 30 punch i was up by about 2 trucks then i slowed down at around 95 and the guy passed me. We were both about to turn around when I see some lights flashing and it was a sheriff. They stopped me and gave me a bunch of bull of how i was racing and that they saw me. Luckly, i had my rifle and hunting gear with me, so that helped a lot. (the rifle was in the truck bed and in its hard cover) my excuise was i was coming back from hunting. And i never changed my story even through he was telling he was going to arrest me and stuff.

If you think insurance is expensive now, wait until they bill you as an 18 yr old with a street racing violation. As I said, find you a very good lawyer. If you no-contest it that is the same as admitting guilt. You know you did it but you need to do whatever it takes to keep it off your record or you'll be selling your truck to drive something you can pay cash for and carry liability only.

Yup, insurance is very expensive, especially young guys. I'm not on the insurance cause its too expensive with a 20 year old guy driving a "new" truck.

Well here in college station i got pulled over for a similar thing. 80 in a 40. Well i took it to the judge and i offered that i would plead no contest if he would allow me to take deferred adjudication. He accepted the offer and i was on 6 months probation. In that 6 months i did not get a ticket in college station and the ticket was dropped off my record. You might want to look into this. My insurance never got wind of this and i could have also gone to jail for street racing but my story was i was trying to get away from this truck who had been following me for 30 minutes.

Here in California insurance is mandatory, and if you cancel or let it expire the insurance company is requiered by the state to notify DMV and they'll suspend your registration on your truck.
