The 4.8 will be a good start only because you already own it. It will be good for fuel mileage and when you&#39;re ready take off your training wheels and ride like the big boys you can directly swap it out for a 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 402 or 408 engine long block. You&#39;ll just have to get the PCM retuned for the new engine and possibly add a little larger set of injectors.

Sure there&#39;s no replacement for displacement but "training wheels"
