All I have to say right now is that I'm one unlucky mutha-----!

I'll be up early tomorrow morning disassembling the motor in my Yukon. I'll need the following:

    fuel line removal tool
    cherry picker
    engine stand
    manpower

For those who haven't heard, the Yukon's 5.3 was jealous, and decided to possibly throw a rod. I don't know for sure, but different sources tell me the same possibility. I'm going to try to calm my anger before I take a sledgehammer to my daily driver. One thing's for sure, I'm glad this happened close to home, but pissed that it happened to an untuned STOCK motor!

Uh... no. Yukon has 111K miles on it. I bought it new in '02 with 7 miles on the dial.

gonna pull the engine from the c10 and put it in the Yukon since the transmission is crap in it anyway or just find a salvage engine?

Looks like I may have to if I want a running DD for Monday morning.

However, if I do this, you can bet that I'm putting the STOCK cam & heads on the shortblock. I'm not too keen on swapping the shortblock b/c the two bottom bolt-hole threads on the block are stripped out. I was thinking of tapping new threads, but no sure if that's wise.

This is THE WORSE time to have something go wrong with my DD. I can't believe this crap!

You need a helicoil kit to repair the threads. That's the best way to handle the stripped threads.

Take one of the bolts with you and they can match it up. I think its 8mm x 1.25mm pitch.
