I think that if it has the green/blue connectors on the PCM it won't work with the red/blue. I could be wrong but it stands to reason that they changed the colors to simplify the identification process so the don't get messed up.

99-02 have red and blue connectors (512mb pcm)
03 and up have green and blue connectors (1mb pcm)
