If you don't mind the extra expense I would suggest you get the LS2 or an L92 base stroker. Lighter weight and deeper cylinders help prolong the life of the engine.
As for headers, I think the S&P should work nice. It would be cool if someone could do a before and after dyno run on their setups before doing header installs.
