leakdown is good but it only checks the cylinder in one location and the condition of the valves. It does nothing to tell you if the rods are bad. Never buy a used engine without a warranty. Some places will give you a warranty good from the day of install, not purchase, my favorite! I wouldn't buy an engine that doesn't come with at least a 30 day warranty.
