The stock NBS truck with a 5.3L is about a full 2 seconds or more faster than the OBS truck with the 5.7L. There is a tremendous HP diff between the two engines.

? Tremendous HP difference? My ECSB Z71 with stock engine, just basic bolt ons and gears runs right with NBS trucks with my swampers, mid 15's N/A, went 14.66 when I had the Blower on it. My L31 Vortec is rated at 255HP and 330Ft/LBS, the newer engines (not counting 6.0) have about 30-40hP more, but lack a bit less torque in the early years. Don't get me wrong, the NBS trucks are far superior, part of the reason I'm swapping a gen III into my 98' (did an LS1 swap on my 87' Iroc before the 360ci race motor I built), but the L31 Vortec 5.7 isn't a slouch either. The early TBI ones and the Vortec 5.0 were though haha. the 96-98 L31's were decent though.
