Well I got my cam kit today from Nelson Performance and I will be starting the install here shortly. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks they have found helpful. I have a 1999 Silverado with 5.3 and I was wondering if anyone knows will I have to remove the radiator or will it squeeze between it and the block? I found the Cam install in the LS1 how to section, but it was a T/A so there are a few differences. Well I will be driving this beast down to Texas thurs afternoon to have Allen dyno and tune it on friday so if anyone from here is in the area on friday stop by Nelson Perf I'd love to meet some of you fools and see some other sweet trucks. Plus this will be my longest trip to date in the Turborado, so i am excited.

You going to Allen's this week or next?

The radiator has to come out, other than that the LS1 instructions work basically the same.
Gone, but not forgotten!

I would take 2 5/16 metal rods and insert them in the holes behind the upper timing chain sporket look at ls1howto.com

by the way have fun with the springs

It is torque to yield, you "officially" need a new one. However I have heard of guys using loctite and over torque the shit out of it. Personally I'll spend the $12 bucks and save the oil leak/potential crank issue.

Well I got the new Cam in last night and then when i was removing my 16 pen magnets from the lifters one of the pen magnets decided it wanted to stay on the lifter and the handle came off of it. So now the drivers side head has to come off!!!!! Oh well I guess at least it will make the valve springs easier to change on that head. I was just like NO WAY this is happening because it was going perfectly til this happened. Well I just thought i'd let you guys know what happened. I can't find anything thin and strong enough to get into the pushrod hole to grad that magnet head and get it out. I used 14 Auto Zone $1.49 cheap magnets and then 2 $6.00 Bumper to bumper magnets and one of them, which was brand new must have been made like SHIT because it just stayed in there and the handle pulled right off with very little effort. MY ADVICE USE THE CHEAPIE $1.49 magnets they work better!

See what happens when you try to do things the safe way lol. If you would have just spun the cam this wouldn't have happened. Sorry about your bad luck bro.

Don't feel bad I installed my passenger side head gasket backwards. when I got to the driverside i noticed that the gaskets were directional so i thought i better check the passenger side, sure enough it was wrong.
