first off, a big thanks goes out to nelson for getting my truck up and running on a mail order tune. i've been using it since june 05, and have only gotten one retune since then. the truck runs flawlessly but there's always those extra areas to tune around in person, ie surging, timing, a/f, etc...

i went ahead and placed an order for an unlocked pcm, with the tune still the same. the reason i wanted this was to tweak out those weak areas b/c i have access to tuning software and a dyno now.

well we got the pcm in the truck and it's now throwing about 5 codes, just like that. the original (locked one) didn't have not one code. one of them that really sticks out on the top of my head is a P0200, injector circuit open. we have cleared the code many times and it keeps coming back. a/f at idle is 10 to 11:1. yes that rich...

now heres the bad part. i still need to return the old pcm back so that i don't get charged but i can't since the unlocked one is running like crap and is not the same tune. if i have to send the messed up one back, then we just used up a license for nothing.

i called nelson around noon this past friday and left a message just to inform them.
my # is 337-356-5071, give me a call and see what we can do about this situation.

thanks,
lance

Is it locked to the point that you cannot download the tune and then cut and paste the cells to the new PCM's tune?

that is correct.
but remember, the new pcm is suppose to have the exact same tune as the locked one, except for being unlocked.

You can always send the new one back to him for another since it's so far off, I guess. That is what I would do. Sounds like you have a great tune so I'd just send it back and wait for the correct base tuned PCM.

I agree with Red. Send the new one back. I had a PCM (with a new tune) that ended up being bad. I sent it back and he sent a new one, problem fixed.

Allen will take care of you.

i hear what you both are saying.
the only bad thing is that we already used up a license on that pcm.
thanks for the replies.

Send it back and he can re-install the correct tune, hopefully. Are you using LS1Edit to tune it? They are the only one I know of that locks the tune to a specific PCM. I think HPTuners only locks it to the VIN.

Have you done a full reflash ? Just find a .tun that works for your truck and do full reflash and go from there .
I take it the PCM reads and writes ok with the EFILive ? Start with increasing VE and then go from there .

i seen your post on doc's thread. it's my truck he was talking about. we were waiting for jesse to send us a file to get us on track to see if it's the tune or a bad pcm but never got one.

I can send you a completely stock flash to flash the pcm back to stock and at least you'll be able start fresh.
Sounds like the pcm calibration is corrupt, not the pcm.

let me know,
allen
