no opinions? come on guys. Well I'll be going with the vortec TBI manifold cause I think the engine might have a injector pickle that's screwed, it's running really rich to rather than mess with with that I bought the vortec manifold and a ramjet roller cam for it from Scoggin Dickey, should work sweet.

Dont go tbi whatever you do. The l31 was made for fuel injection so use it lol. TBI in my opinion is not worth using unless it was given to you for free and you have no money lol.

Holy Cow, how did I miss this? If it's running rich it's most likely the O2 sensor. It's dropped back into safe mode to protect the engine. Buy a new GM sensor and new spark plugs and you'll most likely be back to running great again. While you're at it, check your fuel pressure and see if it's within specifications.

Either manifold will work fine, I've installed both of them and had no problems with either of them. Are you using a GMPP manifold by Edelbrock from SD ? If so everything will swap over fine and you won't feel much difference from the original vortec intake. As far as the 96 running rich it's possibly a stuck injector poppet. I ran into that quite often. If you can get someone to scan the PCM it will tell you if it's an O2 or not. You won't want top use the vortec distibutor with the TBI intake make sure and use the one that came with the TBI.

Agreed! That was my dream one time to install it on a ZZ383. That was my ultimate sb crate engine power pack, until.....................the LS engine!

Sorry been gone a while, worked lots through christmas and stuff. Did the swap, went with the GMPP intake, threw in a ramjet roller cam cause they where on sale, it ran like crap with the factory 305 computer, got a superchips chip from a friend and it helped a bunch really lean at part throttle cruising, great at WOT, seems to make good power 300HP? maybe a little more at the crank, used a cop car 670 cfm throttle body 65LB injectors, headers new exhuast, new wheels and tires, old school fatties!!! The ramjet manifold would be nice, a little too much dough though, thinking about it for my 97 though. None of this matters now cause the short block I started with that was supposed to be great was not so great, not even good, really bad actually, broke a piston last saturday, so it is out and will get a overbore, six inch rods, flat tops, cut crank and be back together before to long for round two. I think I need a fuel pressure regulator to pump the psi a little maybe a bigger in tank pump too.
