I was driving home on a really bad night, and my pickup had been slipping and revving up on the 2-3 shift. Next think you know it doesnt shift into 3rd or 4th gear at all. It just revs up and I have to drive in second. Its great. 60 mile drive home at 3 am goin 50mph at 5000rpms. Could this be a servo or am I looking at getting @n@ly raped by another tranny shop. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you need the 3/4 clutch pack replaced. When they do it, have them replace the clutch pack with the steels and frictions from a 2005+ 4L65E. You should be able to get a shop to just swap the clutches out for about $350. A full rebuild in stock form shouldn't cost you any more than $800.

I'm in eastern montana. I think tranny shops in montana are evil or something. I just had my turb 350 built up and the next week this happens. The shops around here want 1200 rebuild with new torque converter.

What are some recomendations to tell the guy. He is supposed to be an amazing rebuilder.
I was thinking corvette servo add some fric and steel plates to the 3/4 pack maybe 1/2 shift kit. Any other areas I'm missing. I will be doing the nelson tune if something else doesnt explode. . I didn't understand the hole getting rid of the torque management thing. Why do you have to have the vette servo to do that. Does it just decrease clutch slippage or something. Is some of the torque management left just to protect the tranny?

Do NOT add steels and frictions to the 3/4 pack. They get thin and cannot handle the heat. The steels MUST be thick to handle the load or you will be rebuilding again very soon. You don't necessarily have to replace the convertor just because you lost the 3/4 clutch pack. It's a good time to install a stall convertor. The filter will stop all the friction materials from going into the convertor. Unless there was something wrong with the convertor to start with there is no need to replace it, just have it flushed.

I'd add billet 1-2 and 3-4 servos. Corvettes are nice and have very good holding power for the money but the billets are going to give you even better holding power on the bands. Get a Kevlar band installed and a new drum if it needs it. Have the Transgo 4L60HD2 kit installed while it's apart. Be sure he adds the springs to the apply spring pack. Also, get aluminum pistons to replace all the plastic ones. All the check balls, I like to leave them as steel but some companies put plastic check balls back in place. You might also think about having him install a Transgo vacuum modulator kit to the pressure controller.
