so like many others on here i have some money burning a hole in my pocket at teh momnet... and short of all of it going to bills i would like to put some towards the truck.....

ive been searching on ebay a lil bit and found a few sets of heads... a core set of GM Gen III 6.0L aluminum heads. Casting number 317, 71 cc chamber

another set is "brand new" according to them... These are brand new Z06 casting # 243 aluminum heads. Original Valves and original yellow springs are included with the heads.

and another one again are a core set of GM Gen III 5.7L LS1 241 casting aluminum heads removed from a dyno test engine

any and all opinions are welcome ... red any advice you got... they are all pretty reasonably priced and since i have 6 months no interest... itll be an easy credit payment

I'd say call Billy at TRTTurbo and see if he can order you a set of Patriot heads for the beast. He gets them for a really nice price. With the others you listed you really aren't gaining much on what you already have. The best flowing ones listed are the LS6 heads and many have expressed concerns about the cylinder shrouding the valves and affecting the flow. The 317 head is pretty much the same head as the 243 head but in low compression design.

    LS6/243 = 64.45cc
    LQ4/LQ9/317 = 71.06cc
    LS1/241 = 66.67cc
    4.8/5.3 = 61.15cc

You're going to drop compression with head any other than those designed for the 4.8/5.3 engines or the Patriots if he mills them to your stock CC size. If you want to raise your compression a bit he'll have to mill them even more and you'll need shorter pushrods to go with the heads.

Have you considered just having your's ported? You'd be without a truck for a few days while they did them but xtremehorsepower said they'd hand port our heads for $500 and you'd get the flow numbers improved tremendously for that price. That's the place we went for the first DFW GTG.

yeah i thought about doing like a port and polish job, but wasnt sure about cost to gain ratio.... Danny just had his done by an engine builder the other day on his Joe Gibbs for right around 400.... i may start looking into that instead of dropping some big bucks on something that doesnt gain that much for me...

    thanks red
