... Just be forewarned that if you do not get it installed and seated properly you can crack the transmission housing, causing a huge leak and replacement of the housing. Be sure you get the snap ring installed in the transmission case properly before you start the engine and place it in drive. ...[/b]
I've made this mistake - it sucked bad. I did not break the case but did have to remove the tranny to recover the stuck servo (it was cocked/lodged in the bore); fortunately in my case I was able to clean the servo bore with 400-grit and saved the original case. Make sure that the snap-ring is seated all the way around, especially at the top of the servo bore.

Servo

HEY RED. Is this what I need for my 65e 4wd?

Yup that's it - optionally if you have the budget get an aftermarket billet 4th servo (and billet cover) as well.

That sure looks like it. I'd have to dig my old one out of the parts box to compare it but they say it is. Be sure you email the seller and verify that is the correct one for your application before you buy it, just to cover your arse.

My mistake was totally a rookie move - don't let my experience scare anyone away from doing this, these trannies need upgraded servos in the worst way. Just make absolutely sure that the parts are properly aligned inside the servo housing and the retaining ring is completely seated in it's groove; mine wasn't on the top and I failed to see it at the time.

Hmmmm Maaayyybeeeeee... Waco is only an hour away... Not this weekend though, supposed to be pissing down sleet and freezing rain and I'm not that tough. 1/4-m time, no the servo alone will not make a bunch of difference in time although there will be less friction material slippage; but when you combine with a good shift improver kit and tuning expect a .2-sec improvement, generally. Servos affect the clamping pressure applied, the shift kit/programming more affects the speed of gear changes.

I agree on the fact that they're needed. I've just had the misfortune of always installing mine while the tranny was on the shelf being built. I went full billets on mine after having the vette servo. This thing is strong and has taken hundreds of track passes with no sign of degradation. Now that I have 4.10s, maybe I'll see a 4th gear shift sometime on the 1/4 mile passes to see how they hold up. With the higher shift points though I doubt I'll find out anytime soon.

Well I have a car Lift that would raise the truck as high as you want and the tools. So it would be easy to get under the truck. I would pay the gas for someone to do it. I called some local shops and Im getting 90-120 for an install. Any takers let me know.

Suggest you get it done a the same time you get the cam installed. It really is easy, I just tortured Ducky so he could say he did it... almost all of it.

I moved my tranny to the side, don't know if you can do that with the transfer case. I might be availible Sunday if I am not working and the roads are not to bad.....
