Like the title says, what are the basic mods for the 4l60e that no one should go with out? Where can I get them from?

Billet 1-2 and 3-4 servos, Transgo 4L60E SK shift kit, aluminum servo pistons to replace the plastic ones. Check out HITMANX on performancetrucks.net he has a post with all the upgrades listed.

I've got the Transgo HD2-C kit as well. Don't forget reprogramming the PCM as well, or it will adapt and soften-up the shift on you after a little bit of driving; you can also turn off the torque management. I have the Vette 2nd-apply servo (not billet) and highly recommend it, it's not as violent as an aftermarket billet 2nd, still grabs hard enough to scratch AWD though. A billet 4th servo is not absolutely necessary unless you are putting boosted power through top gear but if you can afford it I highly recommend installing one, especially considering that you have everything apart to install it already. Another optional item is the Transgo valve-body separator plate, but that is optional unless your stock one is dimpled from the check balls trying to pound themselved through the metering seats. All this hardware has proven to increase reliability in a 4L60E equipped truck to about 450 lb-ft on stock internals.

Transgo HD2 shift kit, Vette servo, billet 4th gear servo, and transgo seperator plate has kept mint together so far.
