Hello to everyone here, you guys have alot of good information. I want to convert to a 5.3/4l60 for my 72 2wd blazer, I have the engine and tranny available to me for $600 from my uncle, he was going to put it on his 75 shorty but his friend talked him out of it, told him it was going to be to complicated to do the conversion. The bad thing is that I don't know how to do any of the things you guys talk about here, I change the oil and pluggs on my cars thats about it. The engine-tranny is out of a 2005 silverado, can I use this one?

Go for it! If you can read a test light and work some wrenches you should be able to handle the swap. Sounds like your dad and uncle can help you along.

There are quite a few people on here that have upgraded engines in older vehicles(96, 67, 72, etc.) and also some 5.3's in Jeeps With the proper parts and some time to create a harness or purchase one you will get it done

hey man welcome. one thing to watch for on that swap is the electronic throttle control. ull need to get a pedal to work with that OEM throttle body. other than that i cant see any problems that havent already been addressed on here, good luck!

Thank you guys, I'm picking up the engine this weekend, I know I'm getting ahead of my self here, but what kind of motor mounts can I use? Early Classic are the only ones I found.

You may have to play around with it a bit to align it but I would think the S&P style LS1 V8 mount adapter will work for your application. You can buy their aluminum versions or they are available made out of 1/4" steel on Ebay for about 1/2 the price.
